Swelling is the most urgent sign. A battery that looks puffy, or a back panel that’s lifting away from the frame, means the battery is physically expanding from internal gas buildup. This needs to be addressed promptly — a swollen battery puts pressure on other components and is a fire risk if punctured. If your Motorola looks like it’s gained weight, bring it in.

The Replacement Process
